Black and Brass Kitchen Remodel in Woodley Park, Washington, D.C.
Black and brass kitchen remodel in Woodley Park, Washington, D.C. by H&C Contractors Inc. This kitchen pairs black cabinetry with brass details: a French-style range under a matching brass-trimmed hood, butcher block counters, white subway tile and a large island with a built-in wine fridge.
Black custom kitchen cabinets with brass hardware
Black shaker cabinets with brass knobs and pulls line the perimeter, with a tall glass-front cabinet and a black refrigerator with brass handles built into the cabinet wall, so the appliances blend into the cabinetry.
French-style range and a brass-trimmed range hood
A black range with brass knobs and trim anchors the cooking wall, under a custom black hood with brass straps. White subway tile runs from the counter to the ceiling, framing the range and a window with plantation shutters.
Butcher block counters and a statement island
Warm butcher block countertops top the perimeter cabinets. The island has a dark veined stone countertop, a bronze-finish panel on the seating side, a built-in wine fridge and an outlet on the end panel for small appliances.
Globe pendants and recessed lighting
Three brass pendants with white glass globes hang over the island, and recessed lights cover the rest of the kitchen.
Gas, electrical and permits in Washington, DC
A range like this one needs a properly sized gas line and ventilation, and the island needs power for the wine fridge and GFCI-protected outlets. Kitchen remodels in DC that move plumbing, gas or electrical work typically need permits from the DC Department of Buildings. We prepare the drawings, apply for the permits and schedule the inspections.
