Kitchen Before and After in Takoma, Washington, D.C.
Kitchen before and after in Takoma, Washington, D.C. by H&C Contractors Inc. Before, the kitchen had oak cabinets, speckled granite, dark stained trim, one ceiling light and wood-look vinyl flooring. After, it is bright and open, with white cabinets, quartz counters, recessed lights, oak hardwood floors and French doors to the deck.
Before: a dated oak kitchen
The old kitchen worked, but it felt dark and closed in. Oak cabinets and stained trim covered most of the walls, the granite was busy, a freestanding cabinet was pushed against the peninsula for extra storage, and a single fixture lit the whole room.
After: a bright white kitchen
White raised-panel cabinets with matte black pulls now wrap the room, with a peninsula for seating and a tall pantry cabinet. Marble-look quartz covers the counters and runs up the backsplash, and the oak hardwood floors keep the room warm.
What changed
- Oak cabinets became white raised-panel cabinets with built-in pantry storage.
- Speckled granite became marble-look quartz counters and backsplash.
- One ceiling light became recessed lights and under-cabinet LED strips.
- Vinyl plank flooring became oak hardwood.
- Stained trim became white trim, with French doors to the deck.
